Snub Nosed Pets Winter Update

We have some exciting news to share with you following recent developments at the IPATA conference. Emirates SkyCargo is thrilled to announce that we will be lifting the ban on transporting snub-nosed pets for a trial period during the winter season from 01st November 2023 to 01st April 2024, a decision met with overwhelming support from industry experts. We understand how important this change is to pet owners, and we are committed to ensuring the safety and the well-being of your beloved furry companions during their journeys.

Effective 1 November 2023, our new policy will allow for the transportation of snub-nosed pets, with a focus on their comfort and safety. Below are the key requirements you need to be aware of when flying your snub-nosed pets:

• Fit to fly certificate : Customers are required to provide a Fit to Fly Certificate issued by their appointed Veterinarian. This will be in conjunction with the IPATA checklist for snub-nosed breeds.
• IPATA fit to fly snub-nosed checklist : The attached completed snub-nosed checklist is mandatory per IPATA standards which will also be available on the IPATA website.
• Minimum crate size : Pets must be transported in a crate that is at least twice the size of what is typically required for non-snub-nosed breeds, guaranteeing their comfort during the journey.
• Single sector uplift : Snub-nosed pets will only be accepted for single sector uplift.
• A380 aircraft : Snub-nosed pets will be limited exclusively to A380 aircraft.
• Restricted departure times : No departures, from Dubai (DXB), are permitted between 09:00-18:00hrs.
• Uplift Dates : Between 1 November 2023 and 1st April 2024
• Cats allowed : Cats are permitted to be transported on both daytime and night-time departures.
• Age restriction : Age restrictions are as per the Emirates internal guidelines
• Snub-nose specific indemnity & waiver letter : Customers will be required to sign a snub-nose specific indemnity waiver letter.

Ban on transportation of Class 4 and Class 5 Dangerous Goods

At Emirates we continuously review our safety risk exposure on the transportation of cargo shipments that are classified as Dangerous Goods under IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. Based on the results of this exercise, a decision has been made to ban the transport of the following dangerous goods on Emirates SkyCargo:

Class 4 Dangerous Goods:

1. Division 4.1 - Flammable Solids; Self-Reactive Substances; Polymerizing Substances; and Solid Desensitized Explosives
2. Division 4.2 - Substances Liable to Spontaneous Combustion
3. Division 4.3 - Substances which, in Contact with Water, Emit Flammable Gases

Class 5 Dangerous Goods:

1. Division 5.1 – Oxidizers
2. Division 5.2 – Organic Peroxides

This ban comes into effect on 01 October 2019 and applies whether the above Divisions are the Primary Hazard or the Secondary Hazard.

All shipments consisting the above dangerous goods  which have been accepted for transport by Emirates SkyCargo prior to this ban will continue to be transported to destination as per the original booking.

Ban on transportation of used/ refurbished Portable Electronic Devices and Battery Powered Vehicles 

Emirates SkyCargo would like to inform its customers that following a thorough assessment of our shipping policies, we will be implementing, with immediate effect, a complete ban on accepting cargo containing used and/or refurbished Portable Electronic Devices (PED) and Battery Powered Vehicles for transportation on our aircraft. This ban is applicable to all used and/or refurbished Portable Electronic Devices and Battery Powered Vehicles containing:

1. Lithium Ion Batteries packed with or contained in equipment, (UN3481) prepared in accordance with Section I or Section II of Packing Instructions 966 and 967 of the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, including packages containing only button cell batteries installed in equipment (including circuit boards); and consignments of two packages or less where each package contains no more than four cells or two batteries installed in equipment when the lithium battery mark is not required.

2. Lithium Metal Batteries packed with or contained in equipment (UN3091) prepared in accordance with Section I or Section II Packing Instruction 969 and 970 of the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, packages containing only button cell batteries installed in equipment (including circuit boards) and consignments of two packages or less where each package contains no more than four cells or two batteries installed in equipment when the lithium battery mark is not required.

3. Battery Powered Vehicles (UN3171), with the exceptions of automobiles, prepared in accordance with Packing Instruction 952 of the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Any shipment of used and/or refurbished Portable Electronic Devices or Battery Powered Vehicles which have been accepted for transport by Emirates SkyCargo prior to 23 September 2019 will be transported to final destination as per original booking.

Emirates SkyCargo will continue to accept and transport new Portable Electronic Devices and Battery Powered Vehicles which are in the manufacturer’s original retail packaging.

For all cargo containing Lithium batteries, Emirates SkyCargo will be implementing additional checks for acceptance and transportation. If during the acceptance of these packages at origin station, it is observed that there is any damage to the external packaging (i.e. Dent, crush, puncture or similar damage), or that any package(s) has been dropped or impacted prior to acceptance, the shipment will be rejected and returned to the shipper.

Safety is our utmost priority and will not be compromised under any circumstance.

Suspension of flights between Dubai and Doha with effect from 6 June 2017

As instructed by the UAE government, Emirates will suspend its flights to and from Doha, starting from the morning of 6 June 2017, until further notice. The last flight from Dubai to Doha will depart as EK847 at 02:30am on 6 June. The last flight from Doha to Dubai will depart as EK848 at 03:50am on 6 June. Emirates’ flights to and from Doha today (5 June), will operate as normal. Customers who have booked cargo are advised to contact their local Emirates SkyCargo office. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our customers.
